A Darwin based Government Department is offering an ongoing Senior / Principal Research Scientist position to lead its Geoscience research program.
The Environmental Research Institute of the Supervising Scientist (ERISS) is part of the Supervising Scientist Branch. The primary roles of the team at ERISS are to undertake monitoring and research into the impact of uranium mining activities in the Alligators Rivers region to protect human and ecosystem health, and to provide advice to the Supervising Scientist.
ERISS also conducts research on tropical river systems and the ecology and conservation of tropical wetlands with a focus on the sustainable use of water resources.
About the position:
As the Senior / Principal research Scientist you will lead the Geoscience research.
You will be responsible for the strategic development and management of the Institutes Geoscience Program with a focus on the operational and rehabilitation of Uranium mining sites in the Alligator Rivers Region of the Northern Territory.
You will be required to manage and lead senior and junior staff, manage group, agency and external resources.
We are looking for someone with a:
PhD or equivalent in a scientific discipline relevant to the position.
High level research expertise and experience in hydrogeochemistry, hydrogeology and geomorphology.
