Groundwater is the principal water supply source for most enterprises across Northern Australia. Towns, remote communities, mines and irrigation enterprises obtain the majority of their water supplies from groundwater. Ensuring that groundwater development in Northern Australia meets its developmental needs, while not adversely impacting on the environment dependent on these groundwater resources, is a major challenge.
The seminar aims to provide participants with a basic understanding of the risks and opportunities in developing groundwater resources in Northern Australia. It will also provide an overview of how these risks and opportunities are being addressed to ensure that future development is done in a manner that meets the present and future aspirations of the people living in Northern Australia.
When: 29 June 2012, 8:30 to 4:15
